BPI Easy Saver

I got this pamphlet when I enrolled my brother at UST. I think this is new offer from BPI. It is good catch since the account holders don't have to maintain balance unlike the regular savings account, in which they have to maintain at least 3000pesos in order not to get penalty of 200pesos. Like the other teller cards from BPI, it has 16 digits at the front.

Philippines' Online Shopping

Many Filipinos now are into online shopping. The reasons are the following:
  • Cheaper price
      • Online sellers do not have to pay rental expense and some of them do not pay taxes. These are the reasons that they can offer lower price than the stores in the malls.
  • Unique products
      • Online shops have the tendency to be updated for new items since they are always online.
  • Unnecessary to go out
      • It is favorable for moms who have kids, that they can't leave alone, at home.
  • Discounts
      • Some buyers ask discounts for bulk orders, unlike in the malls, the price is fixed.
  • Freebies
      • It is strategy to keep their buyers on going back to buy.
  • Accessible
      • Internet is convenient to most of the Filipinos. That's why they can easily find online shop and look for their needs. If the person is far from the city, in just one click, he can have what he wants / needs.
  • Availability
      • It's a lot easier to look for the items you need online.

Protect yourself against Phishing

Pop Up Warning
I just received message from BDO via mybdo.com.ph about phishing. I also notice some warning every time I went to China Bank website; there is pop up message on the screen. As I read both messages, it informs the BDO and Chinabank users who have online accounts to avoid and ignore the counterfeit emails they received. These counterfeit emails are known as phishing. It is counterfeit email because someone claims to be legitimate and trustworthy entity in order to deceive the recipient in revealing confidential data such as account password, credit card numbers, and bank accounts information. The website, where you have been directed, is not real or official website even they do look similar. People responsible for phishing created fake websites to steal the recipient's confidential information.
